The use of water-fed poles and pure water technology is arguably the most significant change the window cleaning industry has ever seen, and not all customers understand the science behind it.
At Spot Free Finish, based in Addlestone, all of our pure polished water is produced in-house, we have invested in a 500 litre fully fitted professional van-mounted reach and wash system. We use super lightweight Gardiner poles made from pure carbon Fibre.
A TDS meter indicates the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of a solution, basically the concentration of dissolved solids it contains. A TDS meter displays the TDS in parts per million (ppm). For example, a TDS reading of 1 ppm would indicate there is 1 milligram of dissolved solids in each kilogram of water. Rainwater naturally has around 30 TDS.
Water in the Addlestone area from the tap is around 300 - 400 ppm, this reading is high because it contains Fluoride, Chlorine, and Minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Strontium, and manganese, which are dissolved in rocks and soil.
Our in-house water purifier system uses 3 different filters to remove these impurities and finally resin bead to produce laboratory-grade pure polished water with a TDS reading of 000ppm.
The pure water is pumped from our in-house 1000-litre storage tank into the van each day. When we arrive at your property, the pure water is pumped up through a telescopic carbon fibre pole onto the window; this is then scrubbed thoroughly, using a Flocked Bristle Brush which gives great cleaning power on the glass and frames, then rinsed with the polished pure water, finally, it's left to dry naturally to leave a spot-free finish.
As the water has been reduced to its natural state, it has far more cleaning power, so it grabs hold of the grime from the window leaving windows sparkling clean.
Window cleaners have traditionally used methods of window cleaning that use detergents which leave behind a residue that allows dirt to stick to it. The pure water system does not leave anything behind, so windows stay cleaner for longer, resulting in less frequent visits from us.
